“As a child I dreamed of making a beautiful dress in the colour of the night. I envisioned dark clouds dancing, illuminated by moonlight... somehow woven into a garment..”

Dragana Perisic - Autumn Winter 2006

The mysterious night sky - moody, scudding clouds, silvered by the moon's glow - inspires Dragana Perisic's Autumn Winter collection.

The palette is fittingly dramatic - midnight, heathered grey, charcoal, black and silver.

Fabrics - soft cashmere, pleated polyester, shimmering slipper satin and cotton silk mixes - fall gently, subtly suggestive of clouds' fleeting formations.

Just as moonlight pierces night's black cloak, so this collection plays on contrasts: dark and light; fluids silks and textured tweeds; menswear touches and flirty feminine little dresses.

There is a conjuror's dexterity in the signature details: a pocket becomes a belt loop, or vice versa; a collar ties into a decorative rose; satin braces double as a sash belt. And there is method in this magic: the integral belt loops allow the wearer to cinch her waist, or wear the dress away from the body flapper style. Likewise, skirts can skim the knee, or fall a litttle longer; trousers sit high on the waist or hug the hip bone.

This is a collection that can be worn and combined in a myriad different ways as suits the wearer's mood or the occasion...as nuanced, romantic and everchanging as a midnight sky.
